Components of a Solar Power System
There are two major components of a solar power system: a set of solar panels and an inverter. The solar panels are strategically placed to collect as much sunlight as possible; for most homes, this means they’ll be placed on the roof. The solar panels convert the sunlight into an electrical current, using two layers of silicon, each with the opposite electrical charges. Sunlight drives electrons to move from one silicon layer to the other. This movement of electrons is an electrical current.
The inverters are what convert this electrical current into a form that can be used in your home or the power grid - normal, 240-volt, AC electricity.
